Your radiator is quite possibly the unsung hero of your car’s powertrain. Its job is simple: keep the engine from overheating. Sounds easy enough. If the engine overheats, you can have internal engine parts that melt together and cause you serious issues under the hood, and nobody needs that. But the radiator needs your help to keep that engine cool. Here are some things you can do to help your radiator do its job!
Keep your coolant filled at all times.
Make sure you have the correct mix (50/50 water mix) in the radiator and that it is always properly filled.
Keep your lid on!
Make sure your radiator cap is always on tight. That is the key to keeping the pressure on in the coolant chamber.
Remember to clean it out.
When you get your tires rotated, it’s always a good idea to have that radiator cleaned out as well. Cleaning the debris from the front of the radiator will allow proper air flow. Don’t confuse this with a flush and refill process.
But while we’re on the subject…
Have your radiator professionally flushed, cleaned and refilled with the proper summer/winter all-season coolant as outlined in your manufacturer’s service schedule for your vehicle. This is something you’ll need some help with, and we know just the people to call!
The pros at Rad Air know just what you need to keep your radiator working great and that engine cool. Whether you need your fluids topped off or a full-out flush, schedule your visit today and let us make sure your radiator is keeping your engine as cool as the other side of the pillow!
