You’ve Got a Few Questions

And We’ve Got a Few Answers

At Rad Air, we are committed to keeping you safe and informed on the roads. We understand how crazy life can get, and you’ve got a lot to do. Sometimes we stare at the big picture so long that the little things fall through the cracks. We did a little research and found some of the most common questions that people have about car maintenance. Let’s stop these little things from falling through the cracks before they develop into a bigger issue.

1. How often should I check the pressure in my tires?

Once a month is the suggested period of time to lapse between tire pressure checks. You can find a pressure pump at almost any gas station around. Proper tire pressure helps you maintain control of steering and can allow for better fuel economy. A less-than-desirable pressure will also add wear and shorten tire life. Stop into any Rad Air location for a free tire pressure check and fill.

2. When should I change my timing belt?

A working timing belt controls and synchronizes the camshaft(s) in your engine and opens and closes the valves at the right time to result in smooth engine operation. If the timing belt does break, depending on your car, the engine could just stop running or simply break. Most car experts suggest replacing your timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, but a look at the owner’s manual for the recommended interval for your car’s make and model will give you a clearer answer.

3. How do I change my tires?

No one wants to get stuck on the side of the road during the Halloween season with a flat tire and no knowledge of how to change it. Make sure to have the proper equipment and a spare tire in your car. Rad Air gives you a step-by-step of how to properly get back on the road. Give our blog post, How To Replace a Flat Tire in 10 Steps, a look.

4. Do I really need winter tires?

Cleveland’s winter (and spring, sometimes) can bring a lot of ice and snow that lead to dicy driving conditions and make you want to stay inside. Unfortunately, that isn’t an option for you hard-working Clevelanders. Snow tires help you keep a better grip on the road and have more confidence facing the winter.
