Tom Warmuth and Andy Fiffick of Rad Air Complete Car Care recently spent 4 days talking with Ohio Technical College students and administrators about the ever-changing automotive industry. In talks with administrators, Tom and Andy discussed what students need to master before entering the workforce. Grades are important but students with excellent attendance or those who participate in study groups, internships or tutoring sessions during non-class hours make excellent job candidates.
In the classrooms Tom and Andy emphasize the importance of being a good student, but also being a good person. Young mechanics must commit to practicing honesty and integrity under the hood. This means diagnosing and repairing the vehicle correctly upon the client’s first visit to save them time and money. The students impressed Andy and Tom with their well-mannered professionalism and desire to own their own auto repair shops in the future. To help them achieve their goals, Rad Air teamed up with the Mobile Air Conditioning Society Worldwide (MACS) to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student. We have also developed an internship program to provide students with hands-on experience in a real auto shop.
