Headlands Beach State Park.
Drive to Mentor, Ohio, on the east side of Cleveland to visit Headlands Beach State Park, the longest natural beach in Ohio which has also been rated one of the state’s “best” beaches. Walk along the shore, bring along buckets and shovels to play in the sand, hunt for unique rocks and beach glass, or host a picnic and grill out with friends and family! This is the perfect family destination.
Common Ground Canopy Tours.
Take a trek 40 miles southwest of Cleveland to Oberlin, Ohio, for this unique outdoor experience. Common Ground Canopy Tours are ideal for families with children ages 10 and up, as there are age and weight minimums to participate in the tours. If other family members do not want to participate, there are plenty of shops, parks, and beaches in the beautiful, historic college town of Oberlin to enjoy!
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
Take in the beauty of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park aboard this scenic railroad with various locations to start your journey. Many tickets include either breakfast or lunch, and there are a variety of special trains, such as a Murder Mystery Train or a Read Aloud Train. If your family has never taken a ride on a real train, this will be an experience they will not forget!
