America is buzzing with the anticipation of one of the longest-awaited summers in recent history. COVID-19 kept us from traveling for spring break, but it’s not going to keep us locked down this summer. America is ready to roam while remaining socially distant. We are back on the road, but we have to keep safe this summer of 2020.
Staying safe from spreading sickness means being smart inside and outside of your home. We are wearing masks in stores and doing our part to protect one another, but our vehicles are often overlooked when it comes to COVID-19 safety. While there is a discrepancy with how long the virus can survive on different surfaces, but there is little doubt that keeping your car bacteria free is a great idea to fight COVID-19 as well as other seasonal viruses and illnesses that might come in contact with your vehicle. So, with that said, let’s take a look at some ways you can keep your car clean this summer:
Everyone wipes the dash to keep it dust free and wipes the windshield to get rid of streaks. But don’t forget to clean the places you might not usually pay as much attention to. Thoroughly wiping down armrests, headrests, and side windows can help eliminate bacteria in places where it might be hiding.
When entering your car, it’s a good idea to use a disposable towel or gloves to open the door in case someone has touched the door handles without you knowing it. Once inside the car, use your sanitizer and then use some wipes to clean your steering wheel and other surfaces you might be touching while in the cabin.
This is not only effective for protection against bacteria, but it also helps with seasonal allergies. Pet dander is a major culprit when it comes to allergies, but vacuuming can also get rid of dust particles and airborne contaminants. It’s also a good idea to use a carpet or upholstery cleaner to clean up the seating areas as well as floors and floormats in your cabin.
Your vehicle’s air conditioning system is in charge of keeping your cabin protected with cool, clean air in the summer. It’s always a good idea to get your AC system inspected and tuned up for the summer, but this year, consider getting it sanitized as well. We always suggest keeping your filters maintained and fresh.
When was the last time you had your cabin air filters changed? When was the last time you had your heating and cooling system tuned up and maintained? If you are like many vehicle owners, you don’t know the answer. Let Rad Air change that with an A/C system tune-up this summer! Get ready for the road with an A/C system check from Rad Air.
