Quenton Tackas found his love for car repair at the age of 16 when he got a job at a local car repair shop in order to be able to fix his own car. His knowledge and love for cars grew as he pursued training opportunities at work and at Tri-C. Throughout the years, he was always drawn to car repair. Eventually, he owned and operated his own cleaning business for six years, where he grew in his leadership skills.
After two months of remodeling a previously vacant property, Rad Air of Merriman Valley was opened in April of 2009. In 2010, Mike Urbassik joined the Rad Air team after working with Quenton at a tire shop years before and working for his cleaning business after that. He is currently the employee that the shop has had the longest, and he truly is an asset on the team.
The Akron team has also recently welcomed their first female mechanic, Ganine. Ganine brings a wealth of knowledge on BMWs, Audis, and many other foreign vehicle repairs that her former shop had a specialty in servicing.
The Akron shop not only provides the high-quality repairs that Rad Air is known for, but they also are experts in niche elements of auto repair. Quenton has a special interest and expertise in A/C lines and heating and cooling repairs.
Their shop services more than just many of the cars you see on the Merriman Valley roads, they also make many repairs to RVs, excavators, and Bobcat equipment. Due to their close proximity to the gorgeous Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, they also get to repair many antique cars (a true car enthusiast’s dream).
Rad Air of Akron’s most memorable repair was the updating and customization of a family’s vehicle to suit their son with special needs and his friends. It just so happened to be a Lolly the Trolly bus! Rad Air of Akron provided a custom heating and cooling solution for the unique vehicle.
