Get Your Vehicle Ready for Summer Travel

We are taking a road trip—and you are invited! Many of us had travel plans for 2020 canceled due to COVID-19. Now that vaccines are rolling out and destinations are reopening, we are ready to enjoy one of the best parts of summer: road tripping! Over the next few months, follow Andy Fiffick, Rad Air’s founder, as he explores some of the best destinations within a short drive of Cleveland. Make sure to follow along with us on Facebook, too!

Where’s Andy?

Our First Stop: Erie, PA

Estimated Travel Time: 90-minute drive north taking Interstate 90

If you want a destination that is jam-packed with things for the entire family to enjoy, plan to visit Erie, PA, this summer. The views from Presque Isle State Park—which contains more than 3,200 acres of sandy beaches and wildlife habitats—are not to be missed.

After you’ve taken in the coastline, head to family-owned Waldameer Park & Water World for some fun in the sun and roller coaster rides. At 120 years old (and counting), Waldameer is the tenth oldest amusement park in the country!

When you are ready for a break from the sun and sand, plan to visit the Erie Maritime Museum in Erie’s Historic Bayfront District. The main exhibit at the museum is the US Brig Niagara, a reconstruction of the sailing vessel that set sail on the lake in 1813. If you want to be sure that you’ll see the Niagara in port, be sure to check the 2021 sailing schedule before you go.

There’s plenty of good eats in the Downtown Erie area, but one is on the National Register of Historic Places! We’re talking about the Lawrence Park Dinor, where you can eat in a streetcar.

The fun doesn’t have to end as you head back home. Near the end of your drive back to Cleveland, you will pass by The Painesville Speedway in Lake County. We highly recommend checking their event schedule before your trip and planning a pit stop to attend a local car race. A night at the speedway is an affordable and fun outing for the whole family.
