Apprenticeship programs are key to growing the next generation of our workforce now and into the future.
Rad Air has been offering formal apprenticeship programs since 1990, resulting in full–time positions for many aspiring automotive technicians and offering valuable experiences to students pursuing career paths in related fields like engineering. Not only do apprenticeships help attract employees to Rad Air, but they provide an opportunity to engage with community stakeholders such as local schools, vocational programs, and local governments.
Rad Air is proud to be partners with General Motors and its Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP) at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland. Team members work closely with the administration and faculty to provide industry insights through in–classroom presentations, mock interviews, and hosting students for work–study programs.
“If the student has the desire to learn, has the mechanical aptitude, and is driven to complete our two–year training program, they are literally guaranteed family–sustaining wages for the rest of their lives without the possibility of ever being laid off.” said Andy Fiffick, President and CEO of Rad Air. “This cannot be said for almost any other career path open to these individuals.”
Apprenticeships at Rad Air make a difference for young people across Northeast Ohio, including former apprentice Henry Allen.
“My apprenticeship at Rad Air afforded me hands–on skills that I am actively using during my education as an aerospace engineering major,” says Allen. “The team–centered environment was fun to be part of.”
