Andy Fiffick, Founder, President, and CEO of Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers and Hybrid1, has been recognized with the 2022 Pioneer Award by the Mobile Air Climate Systems Association (MACS).
Andy was honored during the 2023 MACS Training Event & Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this month.
MACS established the Pioneer Awards in 1988 to recognize the groundbreaking work and dedication of industry professionals in system design, product development, training, and promotion of better servicing—all areas where Andy has made a tangible impact since he first started in the automotive repair industry more than 48 years ago.
“Andy has been a driving force in the A/C repair industry for nearly 30 years and his dedication to the Mobile Air Climate Systems Association is unmatched in its history,” said Peter Coll, President and Chief Operating Officer of MACS. “His dedication to the training of his staff in all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance has fueled Rad Air’s growth and success. MACS is proud to have Andy join a select group of pioneers that continue to move our industry forward.”
Andy fell in love with cars at just 6 years old while helping his dad—a diesel truck mechanic—in the family garage. He pursued a vocational automotive program in high school and attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis. He worked briefly as a diesel mechanic and then started a ten-year career with Ford Motor Co. Andy left Ford to purchase a small radiator shop in 1986 with the goal of being the best repair shop in town—and the rest is history. Rad Air now has ten locations across Northeast Ohio, all of which are members of the AAA Approved Auto Repair program and Ohio E-Check Certified repair facilities.
“I am honored and humbled to accept this award. I am also appreciative of my wife Elissa, our family, and our awesome staff for joining me on this amazing journey; for without them, none of this would have been possible,” said Andy. “The aftermarket automotive repair industry is evolving at an accelerated pace, and I look forward to remaining an active industry leader, advocate, and mentor.”
Andy has been a MACS member since 1987, on the Board of Directors for the past 18 years, and is currently serving as CEO and Chairman of the Board.
