Most hybrid and full-electric vehicles use something called regenerative braking. This system captures and harnesses the energy of your moving vehicle and turns it into electricity—this electrical power then charges your vehicle’s battery. The battery uses the energy to slow down and stop your vehicle, meaning your brakes don’t need to work as hard. While brake pad wear and brake pad replacement are not needed as frequently when using regenerative braking, it is still a good idea to perform regular maintenance on your hybrid or EV’s entire braking system.
Whether your hybrid’s braking system is not working properly or you have concerns, bring your vehicle to your local Rad Air for an inspection. Our technicians are trained and certified to work on hybrid vehicles and can make sure your hybrid’s brakes are performing optimally. When you bring in your vehicle, be sure to share as many details about your brake’s performance as possible to help your technician diagnose the issue.
Our technicians will thoroughly inspect your vehicle’s braking system, checking the brake pads or shoes, brake rotors or drums, and the hydraulic system for any signs of rust or corrosion. Sometimes brakes can be more prone to corrosion simply from lack of use due to regenerative braking. We can provide new brake system components as needed for each axle.
